Spicy Miso Black Cod

I woke up wanting Chrissy Teigen’s Spicy Miso Pasta and since it’s a new year and all I decided to use the flavors but make it a little healthier.

Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2x 6oz filets of black cod (sea bass or salmon would work great as well)

  • 3 Tbsp White Miso

  • 3 Tbsp Sambal Oelek

  • 2 Tbsp Mirin

  • 1 tsp Sesame Oil

  • 2 tsp Brown Sugar

  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil + more for vinaigrette

  • 1 Tbsp Rice Vinegar + more for vinaigrette

  • Red Pepper Flakes

  • Green onions for topping

  1. Combine miso, sambal, mirin, sesame oil, brown sugar and 1 Tbsp of olive oil and rice vinegar each, whisk until sugar is dissolved

  2. Take 1/2 of the mixture and brush it all over the cod filets, marinate 30 minutes

  3. Turn broiler on high and place filets on baking sheet lined with foil, top with a sprinkle of pepper flakes.

  4. Broil for 4-5 minutes or until caramelization of the sauce and fish on top, then lower the oven to 375 and bake another 2-3 minutes or until fish is opaque

  5. take leftover mixture and add rice vinegar and olive oil to taste until it has a looser texture like a vinaigrette; use this as sauce with fish and serve with rice and shiitake mushrooms (that I sautéed in bacon fat as one last ode to the spicy miso pasta) top with scallions!
